Who Pays for ABA Therapy?

The cost of ABA therapy can be covered in several ways, depending on your family’s situation and insurance coverage.

In most cases, health insurance is the primary payer. Thanks to autism insurance mandates in Texas and across the U.S., many private insurance plans are required to cover ABA therapy for children with an autism diagnosis. Coverage may include most of the therapy hours, with families responsible only for deductibles, co-pays, or coinsurance.

For families with Medicaid, ABA therapy is often included as a covered benefit, reducing or eliminating out-of-pocket expenses. Additionally, some state-funded programs and grants can provide financial assistance when insurance isn’t enough.

If a family does not have insurance or chooses to pay directly, out-of-pocket payment is also an option, though costs can add up. In these cases, some providers, including Steady Strides ABA, offer flexible payment plans to make therapy more accessible.

Ultimately, the goal is to ensure children get the support they need without unnecessary financial strain.

At Steady Strides ABA, we help families navigate insurance, Medicaid, and payment options so ABA therapy across Texas is within reach.
